Jewels for Charity is the only known program in the world that provides individuals with an opportunity to donate the proceeds of the sale of their fine jewelry to the charity of their choice, and receive a liquid asset and beneficial deduction.

What is Jewels for Charity?

Jewels for Charity is a program that provides you with an opportunity to donate fine jewelry to the Kazanjian Foundation for sale. The proceeds from the sale of that jewelry are then donated to the charity of your choice. Additionally, you receive a generous tax deduction.

What is the Kazanjian Foundation?

The Kazanjian Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 1957 to support scientific, artistic, cultural and other worthy causes. The Beverly Hills based Foundation emphasizes programs for disadvantaged and underprivileged youth and provides scholarships for promising inner-city youths.

How do I qualify for Jewels for Charity?

To qualify, donated jewelry needs to be worth over $10,000 per item. Preferred items are those dated before 1970, Art Deco, vintage and exclusive items.

How do I know if my charity qualifies for the Jewels for Charity program?

To qualify for the "Jewels for Charity" program, a charity must be 501C (3) nonprofit, tax exempt and domiciled in the United States.

Simply call us at 310.278.0811 for forms and procedures. We will help you find an independent appraiser, and advise you how to safely ship your jewelry.

How do I get my jewelry appraised?

For items under $10,000 Kazanjian Bros. will appraise the jewelry at no cost, prior to donation and sale. Items valued at $10,000 or more require an independent appraisal.

You will need an independent professional specifically qualified to appraise Jewelry, preferably someone with IRS experience. We can assist you in locating a professional jewelry appraiser in your area.

Do I have to wait for the year that my donated jewelry to sell before I take a tax deduction?

IRS provisions allow for the deduction the year that you make your donation. But, as in all tax-related questions, we urge you to contact your own tax professional, accountant, or attorney for guidance in your own personal situation.

The Kazanjian family underwrites the expenses of Jewels for Charity and shares their expertise and that of their staff to provide professional support for the care of the jewelry entrusted to the program.

How does the jewelry store or gallery benefit?

The venue directs 30 percent of net proceeds to a local charity of its choice, while the remaining 70 percent goes to each individual donor’s charity.

How are funds raised at these venues?

In exchange for the opportunity to host the Jewels for Charity Museum Collection, the venues are asked to sell donated jewelry at full market value. 70 percent of the funds then go to the donor’s charity of choice, while the donor receives the tax benefit.

What is the Jewels for Charity Collection Tour?

The Jewels for Charity Collection tours prized jewelry formerly owned by Hollywood celebrities including Bing Crosby, Clark Gable, Eva Gabor, Howard Hughes, Madonna, as well as famous notables such as the Shah of Iran, among others. The Collection is hosted by fine jewelry stores, galleries and museums worldwide. It encourages patrons and visitors to view the collection, learn about the Jewels for Charity program, and donate jewelry to benefit the charity of their choice.

Certainly. In such cases, we can appraise your jewelry for you at no cost and help your charity strategize on how they can maximize their return. If the charity sells your item, the proceeds will go directly to that charity, and you receive a tax write off.
